Transition to Gleeson College

Key Information

While students will have some opportunity to ask questions about 2027 on Transition Day, we offer below some information that may assist you and your child on those first days of the new school year in 2027. Please note each of the following points:

▪ It is advisable for students to arrive at school by about 8.25 am. Students must be at school and ready to start by 8:35 am.

▪ Students are asked to meet in the Main Courtyard.

▪ An assembly in our Courtyard will begin the day, after which students will be called to assemble in House Groups and Care Group classes will be announced.

▪ Gleeson College formal summer uniform is to be worn, including hats at break times.

▪ Lockers and combination locks will be distributed.

▪ Timetables will be given to students and explained.

▪ Students will be given a tour of the College grounds in their Care Groups – with a focus on identifying classrooms on their timetables.

▪ Some school procedures will be identified.

▪ The canteen will be open for recess and lunch on this day.

▪ Students will be dismissed at our normal time of 3.20pm.

▪ Only Year 7s and Year 12s (TBC) will be in attendance on the first day of school to have additional orientation time before other students commence.

Students may have too many books and stationery items to carry in their backpack on the first day of school. It would be advisable to bring their exercise books, writing pads and pencil cases on the first day so that they can use, if necessary, but they should consider bringing some items the following day. Most of the first day is spent in Care Group and formal lessons begin part way through the second day.

Students with additional needs: the inclusive education team will liaise with you directly regarding opportunity/ies for additional transitions as needed.

BYOD devices should be brought to school on the first day.
